What about those Meteorites??
If you don't know where Franconia Road is, it's about a 15 minute drive on I-40 heading towards Kingman, take the Franconia Road exit and you are there, in the middle of nowhere. Meteorites were discovered there and people have been meteorite hunting the area ever since. There are several Franconia meteorite hunting stories on the internet, that's how I found out about them, here's a few:

Metal Detecting Secrets Most People Will Never Know
Getting out into the desert is fun, but prospecting isn't really something you want to be doing during the summer months, unless you're metal detecting along the lake. We have 3 seasons here, HOT, perfect, and a tad chilly. Perfect and chilly are prospecting weather! And of course, do watch for rattlesnakes on warm sunny days. Chances are you won't see any, but you must take precautions when poking around bushes and rocks. Use your head!
Rock Hounding is big in this area also, I'll be gathering and adding information about that soon! But we did get some good video at the Lake Havasu Gem & Mineral Show, 2 videos.
Now go have some Havasu Fun!!
